Toni and Rob
Well my last wedding of the year. I had a great day and even managed to shoot is a couple of different locations. The low light did challenge me a bit but again Nikon CLS came to the rescue. It really is a brilliant system. The main issues I had was with being outside I had to ensure I had direct line of site. Other problem was the wind. Thankfully the bride's brother/driver was with us and helps holding my light stands or I would have had my umbrella and SB-910 going for a swim in Belfast Lough!

The Hobbit
I guess its all part of our DNA. Its the way we are created that we end up being like our parents in out mannerisms and interests. I guess as you get older you or maybe more others, start seeing the similarities and you get told, "you are just like your father....." I know I have spoken previously of my love of the outdoors and that I have got that from my father. I guess thats where my love of photography also came from and my strange music taste (Madame Butterfly to Led Zeppelin). Another interest is my love of reading. I am very fortunate to be brought up with C S Lewis and J R R Tolkien. I have been waiting impatiently for The Hobbit to be made into film. Excitement is growing as I am now only a few weeks away from its cinema release.
My dads birthday treat is getting taken to the cinema by his sons (aged 35, 32 and 28) to see this. I have been eagerly watching any trailers I can find and even bought a recent issue of Empire magazine which contained about 62 pages on The Hobbit films. Was delighted the other day when I happened upon a copy of the original BBC audio version of The Hobbit from 1968.
Roll on 14/12/2012!

Just wee tease....
Well Toni and Rob's wedding went really well. I had a lovely day and the weather stayed really good if a little cold. We managed to get some outdoor shots in Crawfordsburn Country Park and down by the shore. I used the Nikon CLS extensively and am just realising how fantanstic is actually is. I'm still running the photos through Lightroom but thought I would share one...
And sure while I'm at it I might as well throw in one from Mary and Eamonn's wedding from a few weeks ago.
Will hopefully get full posts for both wedding soon.
Simon :)

Last wedding of 2012
Well today will be my last wedding of 2012. This year has is not over but its been a very busy one and with our third child due at the end of the year or start of 2013 its set to get even busier! My wife's business Candytuft Cakes is going really well but my wife is going to close the doors for a few months to have the baby. We are using the break as a chance to convert our garage into a studio, as if we dont have enough to do! You know it is all happening at the right time. I think the business has just got the stage where we needed to do something as we could escape it anywhere in the house. I know it will allow Kathryn a chance for a break both physically and emottionally and that she will look forward to getting stuck back in knowing she will have her own wee studio to work in. I am looking forward to having somewhere interesting to do photoshoots for her as to try and set up shoots in our home at the moment is a mamoth effort. I will be documenting the studio creation throughout so keep watching!
Over the past few weeks we have taken part in a couple of wedding shows which went really well. I always enjoy networking with out people in the wedding business and meeting new clients. I also love to see my wife's displays as she puts so much thought in them as i'm sure you agree!
Well as I mentioned, this will be my last wedding of 2012. I remember back to the first wedding i shot and how nervous I was. I really didnt enjoy the day but was really happy with the results. Today's wedding I am really looking forward to. I have a few ideas for location shots in a forest we are going to after the service. I just hope the rain stays away!
